Online Exam Services

The process for applying for a Specialty Certificate Examination is online through the My MRCP(UK) online exam service. Candidates who create an online account will be given access to the following services:

  • apply online for an Examination (see details below)
  • track the status of a current online application
  • view details of current and previous Examination attempts, including result information
  • view personal details and update contact information.

Applying online for a Specialty Certificate Examination

The online application service is available within the Upcoming Exams section of My MRCP(UK) and is available to any candidate who wishes to apply for a Specialty Certificate Examination. Candidates should refer to the Exams Calendar for the application period during which online applications will be accepted for forthcoming Examinations.

Candidates with constraints on their practice

Candidates who have been erased from the GMC (or equivalent) register for reasons related to fitness to practice are not permitted entry to any Specialty Certificate Examination. Candidates who have been suspended from the GMC (or equivalent) register are not permitted entry to any Specialty Certificate Examination for the duration of the suspension.

Candidates who are subject to any warning, interim orders, undertakings or conditions on their practice from the GMC (or equivalent body) must submit a completed MRCP(UK) and Specialty Certificate Examinations Candidate Declaration Form with each application. Permission to enter any Specialty Certificate Examination will be at the discretion of the MRCP(UK) Medical Director.


How to apply

All Specialty Certificate Examinations are computer-based and are administered by Pearson VUE at a test centre in the UK or overseas.

The application process for UK candidates is:

  1. register online at My MRCP(UK) (candidate has the opportunity at this point to register any special arrangements)
  2. pay the applicable fee
  3. application is confirmed in an automatically generated email
  4. contact Pearson VUE to select test centre
  5. receive confirmation email from Pearson VUE.

Overseas candidates:

  1. register online at My MRCP(UK) (candidate has the opportunity at this point to register any special arrangements)
  2. request test city
  3. pay applicable fee
  4. application is confirmed by email within 4 weeks of overseas closing date.

Creating an online account

The online account, known as My MRCP(UK), is designed to provide candidates with a more direct and efficient way to interact with the Colleges. When creating an online account, candidates who have previously applied for an MRCP(UK) Examination (and therefore have an RCP code number) will be required to provide the following information:

  • RCP code number
  • date of birth
  • a valid email address.

Candidates who have not previously applied for an MRCP(UK) Examination will be required to provide the following information:

  • family name / last name
  • first name(s)
  • date of birth
  • a valid email address
  • GMC registration number (if applicable)
  • details of the University/Medical School that issued their primary medical qualification (eg. MBBS)
  • date of graduation / date primary medical qualification was issued.
