We understand that the continuing reduced number of PACES examination spaces and cancelations of exams over the past 18 months due to the COVID-19 situation has had an impact on candidates and their plans to complete the MRCP(UK) diploma.
To ensure that candidates have an opportunity to progress, all candidates who have been affected will be eligible for a 12 months extension. Those who originally expired in the 2020 and 2021, and who have already received an extension, will be included. The work to apply these extensions will be conducted over an extended period of time, with those who expire soonest prioritised.
Details of the normal eligibility period are outlined in paragraph 3.5 (page 5) of the MRCP(UK) regulations.
Candidates who have had six attempts at any part of the MRCP(UK) (Part 1, Part 2 Written, PACES) will still need to follow the limit on attempts procedure outlined when applying for a future diet of the examination.
