Restarting MRCP(UK) assessments and training progression

The Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK is focussed on restarting all assessments; MRCP(UK) Parts 1 & 2, PACES and Specialty Certificate Examinations, in September as currently scheduled.

We have been working closely with our third party providers to find new dates for the SCE's and European specialty examinations that were cancelled early in the pandemic and are pleased to confirm these have now been rearranged. Further details of the forthcoming SCE's can be found here.

The delivery of all of our assessments will be dependent on the ongoing impact of the pandemic and relevant local, national and international guidance on social distancing as well as any restrictions imposed by our third party delivery providers at the time of the scheduled examinations.

We appreciate that trainees are understandably very concerned about the delays to assessments this year as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the on going uncertainty that continues to exist. We would like to reassure them that we are sympathetic to this and are working as hard as we can to explore all possible delivery methods to ensure that they have the opportunity to sit validated and reliable assessments so that they can continue to progress in their training. In particular, we are currently in the process of identifying trainees who are at a critical progression point in their training so that they can be prioritised in our forthcoming examinations. We are also working to source additional places at our examination centres due to run later this year and early next year in order to increase capacity.

In the interim, we would encourage trainees to continue preparing for their assessments this autumn as they would normally have planned to do and would ask them to continue monitoring the website for any further updates.
