The Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK is delighted to announce the successful launch of the MRCP(UK) PACES examination in Hyderabad, India. MRCP(UK) is the largest international clinical examination in the World. Forty one trainee doctors undertook the examination between the 2nd and 4th November.
The PACES examination requires the involvement of committed local and UK consultants as fully trained examiners. It also requires an extensive group of patients with clear physical signs together with a group of surrogate patients to test communication skills.
The Federation’s partner in Hyderabad is Innovate Health Systems. They were chosen for their drive, vision and enthusiasm to encourage postgraduate medical education in India. Innovate were able to develop a completely new group of patients who had not previously been used in either examinations or teaching courses. Their surrogate group also performed well permitting an excellent assessment of both the candidates’ bedside clinical and communication skills.
The MRCP(UK) PACES examination will now take place twice yearly in Hyderabad and becomes the Federation’s sixth centre in India.
