PACES exams update: 22 February 2021

UK PACES examining remains on course to commence on 13 March 2021.

As mentioned in the last newsletter, we have managed to reschedule most of the cancelled centres to later dates in April and May and we continue to work with our host centres to maximise the number of places we can offer. The 2021/1 diet is likely to run in the order of 700 places.

We wish to remind candidates the application period for 2021/2 will open before diet 1 is complete. Candidates are therefore advised to apply on a provisional basis whilst awaiting the release of their 2021/1 results. Payment will be deferred until a place in the 2021/2 diet is confirmed.

Pre-exam questionnaire

In the upcoming diet, candidates in the UK will again be required to fill in a Health questionnaire in advance of attending the exam. In a slight addition to the questionnaire which ran last diet, we will now be asking candidates if they have undertaken a COVID-19 lateral flow test through their workplace and to self-declare the result.

Release of results

We remind candidates that there are inevitable delays getting marksheets back from examination venues and remote examiners and in transporting marksheets to our offices in London for scanning. We will strive to limit delays and provide results within a maximum of 6 weeks.

International Update

PACES will be held in Islamabad, Singapore and Hong Kong during March. Several other centres in India have been postponed until May or later in the year. Travel restrictions continue to cause major issues with the delivery of PACES and may impact on some of our centres due to run in April. Dates are being finalised for PACES centres which hope to run during the summer.

Live Twitter chats

Live Q&A sessions about the exams occur regularly on our Twitter account. The next one will be on Tuesday 2 March at 3pm. Follow us for updates at @MRCPUK.
