UK centres

Candidates who have selected to sit the exam in the UK must contact Pearson VUE to book their test. Pearson VUE operates up to 137 test centres throughout the UK for European Specialty Examinations (ESEs), and advise that the earlier a candidate books their test once the booking window is open, the greater the chance of their preferred centre being available. Booking windows open approximately one month after the application period opens. Any candidate who has not booked their test centre once the booking window has closed will automatically be allocated to the nearest available test centre to the correspondence address in their online account.

Non-UK centres

Candidates are given a choice of regions from which to select, and are then asked to nominate a particular city in that region as the desired location for their test. MRCP(UK) will pass this request to Pearson VUE once the application period has closed, and Pearson VUE will confirm final test centre details to candidates via email at least three weeks before the date of the examination.

European Section and Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (ESBGH) full member, associate member and observer countries candidates and other international candidates are not required to book their own test centre with Pearson VUE, and attempting to do so may delay a candidate's application.

In the event that MRCP(UK) and Pearson VUE are unable to deliver an ESE in the specific location requested, candidates will be offered a choice of the nearest available test centres.

The deadline for transfer requests between international test centres and for any transfer requests from the UK to an international test centre is two weeks after the closing date of the international registration period. Any request made after this time will only be taken into consideration if there are exceptional circumstances for the request which can be substantiated with evidence.

Candidates who request to transfer from the UK or ESBGH full member, associate member and observer country to an international test centre will be liable for the difference in the fees, £168.

A list of full member, associate member and observer countries can be found on the EBGH website. If you have any further questions on this matter please contact your local delegate.

MRCP(UK) has been informed by Pearson VUE that, owing to a US embargo, tests centres which are owned by or work with Pearson VUE cannot accept identification which has been issued by the Syrian Arab Republic unless the candidate can present a secondary form of identification which has been issued by another country. For details of primary and secondary identification please see here. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes. If you need any clarification please contact us.
