Results
When the results are available online an announcement will be posted on the Latest News section of the website.
MRCP(UK) Part 1 and MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written Examination
Candidates who have opened an online account will be able to view their result in their My MRCP(UK) account under Exam History.
Results will be mailed within 5 weeks of the examination. If your results need to be sent to a different address please write your new address on the reverse side of your admission document. This will be collected during the examination. Results for candidates sitting in centres outside the UK will be posted direct to candidates by airmail. Candidates should allow 1-2 weeks for delivery.
Please note that under NO circumstances will results be given over the telephone, by email or fax. Please do not telephone the colleges regarding your results as this will delay the process.
Pass result
Candidates should refer to the MRCP(UK) Regulations for details regarding progression through the MRCP(UK) qualification. Candidates who have successfully passed all three parts of the MRCP(UK) Examination, and who are eligible for election to Membership, must complete and return the Form of Faith.
Fail result
A candidate not achieving a pass mark will be deemed to have failed the Examination. Candidates who fail badly may be recommended to defer re-entry for one or more examinations.
MRCP(UK) Part 2 Clinical Examination (PACES)
Candidates who have opened an online account will be able to view their result in their My MRCP(UK) account under Exam History within 10 working days of the date of their exam in the UK and within 15 working days of the date of their exam for overseas candidates.
Results will be posted by first class mail or airmail within 15 working days of the web release of results. Results cannot be collected from the Royal Colleges of Physicians or given over the telephone or by fax or email.
Pass result
Candidates should refer to the MRCP(UK) Regulations for details regarding progression through the MRCP(UK) qualification. Candidates who have successfully passed all three parts of the MRCP(UK) Examination, and who are eligible for election to Membership, must complete and return the Form of Faith.
Fail result
The MRCP(UK) Part 2 Clinical Examination (PACES) may be failed in the following ways:
- a candidate may not achieve the pass mark on one or more skills, or the overall total minimum score
- a candidate achieves a score of 28 or less in Skill G Maintaining Patient Welfare
- aggressive or inconsiderate behaviour, either physical or verbal, to a patient will result invariably in failure
A candidate may fail PACES and be deemed by the MRCP(UK) Part 2 Clinical Examining Board to require more clinical experience before re-attempting PACES or may be recommended for counselling from a nominated Fellow or Member of one of the Royal Colleges. Candidates may request counselling themselves through their College of Entry. Candidates who fail badly may be recommended to defer re-entry for one or more examinations. The Royal Colleges of Physicians may require evidence of further training before candidates who fail badly are permitted to re-enter the examination.
Any candidate who has not passed PACES and Part 2 Written within 7 years of their passing the Part 1 Examination will be required to re-sit the Part 1 Examination before making any further attempt at Part 2 Written or PACES.
