Applying for the MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written Examination

Eligibility

The Entry and Eligibility requirements for the MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written Examination have been updated.  Please refer to the Regulations page for further information.

Applying online

Candidates may apply online to sit the MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written Examination at all UK centres and selected overseas centres. The online application service is accessible through the online account, My MRCP(UK). Please visit our Online Examinations Services page for more information about creating an online account and applying online for an Examination

Note 1: Online applicants may be required to submit additional documentary evidence (eg. primary medical qualification) and/or payment to complete their online application.

Note 2: It is not currently possible for candidates claiming exemption from the Part 1 Examination to apply online for the Part 2 Written Examination.  Candidates should instead submit a paper application.

 

Submitting a paper application

Candidates who are unable to apply online should download and complete the following application form/s. The completed application should be submitted by recorded delivery to the relevant Administration Office.

 Form A is to be used for:

  • All MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written Examination candidates who are applying for exemption from the MRCP(UK) Part 1 Examination


 Form C is to be used for:

  • All MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written Examination candidates who are applying to sit the exam
  • All MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written Examination candidates who are applying for exemption from the MRCP(UK) Part 1 Examination (along with Form A as mentioned above)

Prior to submitting an application, we strongly advise all candidates to obtain and familiarise themselves with the current version of the MRCP(UK) Examination Regulations, which includes full information regarding eligibility requirements as well as the conduct, format and content of the MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written Examination.

 

Checklist for submitting a paper application

For first time entry after passing Part 1, or for re-entry send:

For first time entry, when applying for exemption from Part 1 send:

  •  Form A
  •  Form C
  • Diploma of Primary Medical Qualification or General Medical Council (UK) Registration Certificate (original or authenticated photocopy only)
  • Postgraduate Diploma (original or authenticated photocopy only)
  • Fee in Sterling (please check current amount)
  • Self-addressed label for return of Proof of Qualification

Candidates should check carefully that they have enclosed all relevant documentation before sending their applications. Applications which are not complete in every detail and/or arrive after 17.00 hrs on the closing date will be returned. Allowances cannot be made for postal or other delays.

 

Credit/debit card security number

If you are applying for the MRCP(UK) Part 1 or Part 2 Written Examination and wish to pay by credit/debit card you will need to supply your card security number. This is due to a change in legislative requirements relating to security and credit/ debit card payments.
Your card security number is a three or four digit number. For most cards, including Visa and Mastercard, the number is the last three digits printed on the signature strip on the back of the card. Please note that your application will be incomplete unless you provide a security number on your application form (see appropriate credit card payment section on your application form).
