Become a PACES Examiner

The three Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom require experienced clinicians to become examiners and assess candidates undergoing the MRCP(UK) Part 2 Clinical Examination (PACES).

Eligibility

To be eligible for PACES examining in the UK, you must:

• be a Fellow of one of the three Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK
• use the skills assessed in PACES as part of their routine clinical activity
• have evidence of an interest or regular participation in educational activities
• be up-to-date with your employer’s equality and diversity training and CPD
• be engaged in the supervision and training of junior doctors in Core Medical Training
• be subject to a formal appraisal process in your current post.
  

Examiner commitment

To become a PACES Examiner you must:

• carry out examining duties or examine at least 30 candidates per annum (averaged over 2 years) i.e. a minimum of 2/3 days examining per year
• refresh your examiner training if you are unable to take part in the required number of cycles over 2 years.
  

Application

If you are interested in becoming a PACES Examiner you can apply to one College only. Please note that if successful in your application, you may be asked by your parent College to examine at centres run by any of the three Royal Colleges of Physicians.
